IGFORD - Glencorwyn Peninsulaby ~zonefox

Work for my steampunk Final Year Uni project, Much Haste to Igford. Please take the time to look at it in Full view.

Sometime in April, 1890. Evening draws in over the Glencorwyn Peninsula and the town of Igford, one of the most prominent and industrialised ports in the whole of the Caledonian Empire.

This is a background painted for a 3D 'skydome' in-game, which is why there is no close-up detail. This is just a backdrop used in the game behind the rest of the level - which should be coming soon! Apologies about the image being a little small, it's not really meant for gallery viewing but as i've been quiet on dA recently I thought i'd share it.

Painted with my ageing tablet in Photoshop from scratch, with additional help from JavierZhX's awesome cloud brushes (found here: [link] ). A day's worth of work from start to finish including downtime and a trip to the dentist

i rember u saying that u wasnt gonna have the game at a generic time setting, have u thought about changing the position of the sun and its effects on th water to make like a sunset or sunrise look?

Yeah, I've been thinking about it recently - might go for more of a sunset. It'll make a lot of the level quite dark with long shadows but i'll have a play around with lighting and see how it looks.

Glad this image is layered in Photoshop, it means I can move the sun around wherever I like

Slowly - the tutors are fussing over functionality and i'm an artist, not a programmer. I've been doing scripting and coding for the last month or so and it's driving me nuts... it's getting there though, the car is working and i'm doing some of the level work now.

The original image is 1024 x 4096 so there is a bigger res verion, it just won't fit on most people's screens. could be good for a dual monitor setup, perhaps? hehe
