Ben 10 Birthday Card

Commission piece I did for a friend's son's birthday - who is a huge Ben 10 fan (which, for those of you who need to be brought up to speed, is the theme of this piece). This was done in summer 2008.

As with some of the other pieces of art i've done over the years, the challenge is to capture the style of the original work - something that I personally enjoy. I feel like i've achieved something if it's done properly, extending the range of my portfolio.

One thing I do like about Ben 10 (and prior to this commission I wasn't really aware of the franchise) is the colour scheme on most of the promotional material. That green/yellow/black thing they've got going on made for some nice looking and different work from me - might have to use that for my own stuff sometime.

Miraculously, this project was completed on a five year old laptop which had been throwing regular hissy fits at the time. Needless to say, it didn't last much longer after doing work like this, but in all fairness it got me through my first year of university... just.
