Please take the time to look at this image in Full View.

This is a location setting for Amethyst , my on-off story/comic project.

On the outskirts of Richside, Logos Europolis, stands the Cortrin Shopping centre. A typical example of late Europan architecture, it was modelled in an imitation-brutalist style that became fashionable in the late 29th century. The centre once provided trade and business to the surrounding districts, though has slipped into a decline over the post-riot years.

The car park, a feature which dominates the whole building, is still frequently used by locals and some parts of the centre still contain stores which operate daily; a branch of Debbie's Clothing and an EdaMart are currently the Cortrin's two largest occupants, with an amusement arcade housed in what was once an indoor swimming pool nearby. The twin tower blocks contain flats and, while not the most glamourous place to live, are still occupied by both humans and anthros seeking affordable living space.

Graffiti culture has flourished in the region leading to mass vandalism throughout the complex. Next to the Allen Road Metrotrak depot, the Cortrin is the gathering place of choice for local artists and taggers to put their efforts on public display.

This view is from the south entrance on King Street. The shops in this section of the Cortrin have been empty and boarded up for about eight years, abandoned during the Food Riots of 2988 following repeated cases of looting and arson attacks. In recent years however, despite the decay and bleak surroundings, King Street has been used weekly as a marketplace where local traders sell anything from fruit and vegetables to old audio digidiscs. Over the last 18 months the King Street Market has attracted people not only from Richside but the surrounding regions, even becoming a preferred haunt for younger Richside residents who regularly scour the stalls for games, clothing and various oddities.

Anyone who lived in or visited Portsmouth before 2004 might see a certain degree of inspiration taken from the infamous Tricorn Centre here - and the name, Cortrin, is an anagram of Tricorn.

It's just great.

Trying to think of something to say about it, feels so much like "stating the obvious" that I'm dumbstruck for critique.
I would add that there should be more variance on the paving colour/stepping but the angle is too tight to allow for that given the slight sketchy nature.

Did you mean Portsmouth England? Damn, if so I can remember quite a few things that are resemble it in this image... Also I can see parts that resemble Kent (England), very nice work...

Nice work man! Really full of character, which (I find) can be pretty difficult with locations. The colours add a really nice feeling of depth too.

Thanks Matthew! Yep, it's Portsmouth in the UK. The Tricorn was demolished last year but I wondered if some people who knew of the real Shopping Centre might have recognised it in this pic.

Thanks for the +Fav! :D
